Transversal skills
Have you heard of transversal skills? These are knowledge, skills, and competences that are relevant across different work and learning contexts. In other words, they are not tied to a single occupation or job but represent basic skills every individual needs for personal and professional development. In the SMARTY project, we focus on four of these skills: communication and negotiation, team working, creativity, and critical thinking and problem solving. With the newest SMARTY app, professionals can assess these skills among adult migrants through different games and simulations. Development and assessment of key competences
The development and promotion of the #8KeyCompetences are recognised as central tasks in education, training, and lifelong learning. Since these competences are considered essential for everyone, they should be developed and strengthened throughout all stages of life. In its 2018 Recommendation on Key Competences for Lifelong Learning, the Council highlighted not only the importance of developing these competences, but also the need to develop effective approaches for their recognition and assessment. In line with this, the SMARTY project is creating a digital tool to support the assessment of key competences of adult migrants, supporting their social and labour market integration. Recognition of adult migrants’ competences
Many migrants arrive with valuable competences that often go unrecognised, especially when not supported by formal qualifications. Adult education professionals play a key role in identifying and assessing these skills, enabling more personalised guidance towards successful social and professional integration. That is why our Erasmus+ project SMARTY is developing a user-friendly app to assist professionals in evaluating key competences of adult migrants—such as digital skills, critical thinking, literacy, and more. EAEA Grundtvig Award and SMARTY project
This year’s EAEA Grundtvig Award highlights the importance of creating flexible learning pathways that address the diverse needs of adult learners. Recognising each individual as a whole—with their strengths and areas for growth—is essential for fostering personal development and enabling full participation in society. In line with this, the Erasmus+ SMARTY project supports adults, especially migrants, by recognising and assessing their key and transversal competences. SMARTY meeting in Uppsala
Another productive project meeting as part of the SMARTY project took place in the beautiful city of Uppsala in Sweden.
